School Incursions

I created this incursion to help young people build strong foundations for a lifetime of movement.

So much of how we move, play, and perform starts with our feet — yet they’re often the most neglected part of the body. These sessions are designed to reconnect students with their natural movement patterns through fun, practical activities that build balance, coordination, and confidence.

The program blends sports performance, injury prevention, and mindful movement, making it an ideal fit for both Physical Education and Health & Wellbeing outcomes in the Victorian Curriculum. Students will learn how strong, balanced feet improve performance across all sports, while also discovering how mindful, playful movement supports focus and stress management.

Every session is engaging, age-appropriate, and fully hands-on. I bring all of the equipment and guide students through games and challenges that make movement education memorable, meaningful, and fun.

About the Incursion

Who I am:

I’ve been a personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach since 2009. More recently I have become a qualified Foot Collective Guide. With nearly two decades of experience helping people move better and feel stronger — from young athletes to adults rediscovering their confidence in movement.

I am also a dancer and dance teacher, so I’ve seen firsthand how balance, body awareness, and strong foundations affect performance, confidence, and injury risk. My passion is teaching people that movement doesn’t have to be complicated — it just has to be consistent, curious, and fun.

I hold a current Working With Children Check, First Aid and CPR, and bring a calm, supportive, and energetic approach to every session. Whether it’s helping students learn how to balance on one foot or showing them how movement can reduce stress, my goal is to help young people develop skills and habits that keep them active and healthy for life.

What is included in the Incursion:

Each Balance & Foot Health incursion is hands-on, fun, and built to fit easily into a school timetable. Sessions can be run indoors (hall, gym, or classroom) or outdoors on flat ground.

I provide:

  • All required equipment — balance beams, balls, bands, and props for games and drills

  • Setup and pack-down (no staff assistance required)

  • Age-appropriate programming for Foundation to Year 12

  • A safe, inclusive environment where every student can participate

The school provides:

  • A clear space — gym, hall, or outdoor court

  • Supervision from a teacher or staff member (as per school policy)

  • Students wearing comfortable clothing and shoes (or barefoot if appropriate)

Session structure:

  • Each session runs for 45–60 minutes, with timing flexible to suit your schedule.

  • Sessions begin with a short introduction to how our feet and balance affect the rest of the body, followed by interactive games, movement challenges, and a short mindful cool-down.

  • Content can be adapted for physical education classes, sport sessions, or wellbeing programs.

Program focus:

  • Balance, coordination, and athletic performance

  • Foot health and injury prevention

  • Mindful movement for focus and calm

Every session is designed to be simple for teachers to organise, engaging for students, and educational enough to meet curriculum requirements — all while keeping movement playful and accessible.

Curriculum Links & Learning Outcomes:

The Balance & Foot Health incursion supports key outcomes from the Victorian Health and Physical Education Curriculum and Personal and Social Capability Curriculum across primary and secondary levels.

By participating in this workshop, students will:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of how their feet and balance affect movement, performance, and injury prevention.

  • Build physical literacy through balance, coordination, strength, and proprioception (body awareness).

  • Explore how mindful movement can help manage stress, improve focus, and enhance wellbeing.

  • Work collaboratively in pairs and groups to problem-solve through movement games.

  • Reflect on how regular movement supports lifelong physical and mental health.

Curriculum links include:

  • Health & Physical Education: Movement and physical literacy; understanding movement; being healthy, safe, and active.

  • Personal and Social Capability: Self-awareness, self-management, and social awareness through teamwork and reflection.

This makes the program ideal for integration into Physical Education, Health, or Wellbeing units, or as an engaging one-off incursion to reinforce classroom learning.
